Ivette's obituary

Ivette Vichot-Taboas, 59, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on April 29, 2025, after an arduous journey with cancer.

Ivette was born on March 16, 1966, to Juan Francisco Vichot and Mary Andreu-Vichot in Miami, Florida. In 1980, Ivette met the love of her life, Willie. They married on August 30, 1985, and went on to have three children: Anais, Frank, and Anthony. Little did she know, this was the beginning of a large, sprawling family—something that gave her much joy in life.

When Ivette had Anais, she devoted her energy to being an excellent and involved mother. Ivette was a fiercely dedicated mom, raising and encouraging them to pursue their dreams and inspiring them to accomplish great things. Family came first and was above all else to Ivette, a value she instilled in all those around her. Not a day went by when Ivette didn’t talk about how much her children, grandchildren, and family meant to her. Her family was arguably the most important achievement in her life.

In 1994, Ivette formed Girl Scout Troop 777 in Miami, Florida. As a Troop Leader, she fell in love with the work and remained until 2005, when her Girl Scouts graduated from High School.

In addition to family and serving as a role model for girls, her other great passion in life was teaching. She spent over 27 years dedicated to teaching. She began her career in early education in Miami, and when she moved to Frederick County in 2009, she began working with the multilingual learning department of Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS). She worked for FCPS for about 15 years. Most recently, Ivette worked at Urbana Elementary School. In 2024, she was honored as Frederick County’s 2024 Teacher of the Year.

Ivette was predeceased by her parents, Juan and Mary, and her older brother Frankie Vichot. She is survived by her loving husband, Willie; her children, Anais, Frank, and Anthony; and her grandchildren, Vincenzo, Cecilia Loren, Eliza, Daphne, and Levi.
