Two months before he passed, David and I learned he wasn't feeling well and we quickly planned a trip to see him. We flew from Austin with our son Tim, joining the rest of David's siblings on the Olympic Peninsula in a house we rented. We all spent many special hours that weekend with mom & dad sharing memories, telling him how much we loved him, lots of hugs, driving them around, preparing special meals for him, and arranging for both of them to immediately move in with his son Don for his final weeks. He went into the hospital just after Christmas, and passed peacefully and without pain two weeks later, with his wife Lauradele and son Don by his side. God was gracious to us all...to be with him and surround our parents with love in Ivan's final days. David and I had to return to Austin after that precious weekend in December, while his sons Don and Dan took on the roles of caregivers and moving tasks, and sister Valerie was communications liason between the hospital, the family, and Lauradele's new home at The Lakeshore Senior Living.
In response to "When was the last time you spent time with Ivan?"

Im sad to hear about Ivan. He exemplified nothing but kindness.

He will be missed by friends, family and especially his sister. Donna
