Ivan's obituary

Ivan was born in 1931 in Tremont, Illinois, and at just a few months shy of 90 years old he remained a strong and capable fella. Ivan liked to do things for himself. He tinkered around his shop, welded things for his friends and for his hobbies. He liked going out and shooting his rifles and pistols. He was as active as a guy could be despite having crippling osteoarthritis for 45 years.

As if he hadn’t been dealt enough of a bad hand, cancer came along. As is with all of us, even the strong willed like Ivan, there comes a time when you get too old to fight or your opponent is too strong. Many have seen Ivan stand strong time after time and foe after foe, but now we’re seeing something our eyes can’t believe, he’s losing. Faster than any of his loved ones can believe he was taken by cancer.

Ivan never asked for a handout and had always been able to take care of himself. Now he deserves to relax and let someone else stand strong this time, for him. And that is just what his loved ones did. Rest easy Ivan.

Ivan was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Darlene, his daughter, Brenda (Crystal), and his twin baby son and daughter, Jonny and Jackie. He is survived by 10 children: Vicci, Ben, Grace, Leora, Larry, Barbara, Janet, Theresa, Terry, and Tom, as well as 36 grandchildren, over 60 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
