Our beloved community elder, Justice Ismail Laher, 98, passed away on the morning of Friday, May 8th in the blessed month of Ramadan. He was loved by each and every member of our community, and he will be greatly missed.

While we would all have loved to attend his Janaza Prayer and Burial, due to the current health crisis and guidelines in place limiting large gatherings, this online obituary is created in hopes for the community to express their condolences. The hope is for Laher Family to see how beloved Justice Ismail Laher was to all of us, and in turn, feel comfort and peace by the heartfelt words from the community.

In addition to condolences for Justice Laher, you can also write messages for his wife, Zulekha Laher, 79, who passed away earlier this year on March 13, 2020.

Both we're beloved to our community.

O Allah, forgive them and have mercy upon them, excuse them and pardon them, and cleanse them with water, snow, and ice, and purify them of sin as a white robe is purified of filth. O Allah, exchange their home for a better home, and their family for a better family. Admit them in Paradise as their ultimate home, protect them from the punishment of the grave and the torment of the fire. O Allah, grant patience to their family and friends, and provide them with strength and strong iman to recover from this difficult loss.
