Isidro's obituary
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Mr. Isidro Fernandez, who left us on March 2, 2024, just prior to his 88th birthday. Born on March 23, 1936, Isidro had a remarkable life filled with love, faith, and service. He was predeceased by his first wife Idania, and his siblings, Mercedes Maria, Mamerto and Bernardo Fernandez Barrera.
Isidro was a beacon of spiritual strength, kindness, and compassion for all who knew him. His caring nature and loving attitude touched the lives of countless individuals. His unwavering conviction inspired those around him, reminding us all about the power of faith, the importance of self-love, and the divine love of God. He lived his life in service to others, firmly believing in a greater purpose.
Among his many accomplishments, Isidro was a spiritual guide, leader, and advisor. During his time as a seminarian, he bravely helped individuals escape persecution under the Cuban regime, providing them a path to freedom through Guantanamo Bay. Although this act of courage cost him his vocation, Isidro remained committed to human rights and the freedom of all individuals.
The legacy Isidro leaves behind is one of kindness and service to others and God. His life was a testament to the power of faith, compassion, and commitment to the wellbeing of others. This legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who knew him.
Isidro is survived by his loving wife, Marta, his children from his prior marriage, Marianne and Isidro Fernandez and step-daughter Johanna Velasquez; and his stepdaughter from his current marriage, Vivianne Arencibia, as well as his cherished grandchildren James, Luca, Rocco, Lucia, Rodrigo, Santiago, Cassandra, James, Sabina, Victoria, Christian, Gabrielle, Rebecca and Zachary. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
