Isiah's obituary
Isiah Robert Washington, son of the late Frank Washington Jr. and Ida Bell Parker-Washington was born on February 07, 1939, in Charleston, S.C. God called him home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Isiah received his early education in the public schools of Charleston, S.C. Isiah graduated Wallace High School in S.C., then joined the army at an early age. He moved to NYC after returning home. He worked for General Motors until he retired, then started a new career at Enterprise-Rent-A-Car as a Driver delivering cars state-to-state in his retirement.
Isiah known to many as “Bob”, “Rob”, “Uncle Rob”, and “Poppy.”
Isiah loved bowling, traveling, fishing, lifting weights, taking long walks, cooking, and of course spending time with his family! He was known for his debonair style, usually matching his wife’s stylish outfits. Isiah was an avid bowler playing on multiple leagues in New York and Arizona.
Isiah gave his life to the Lord in 1999 on Resurrection Sunday following the death of stepmother, Hope Washington.
Isiah was married to his soulmate, Gertrude “Trudy” Washington for over 61 years. From this blessed union there were three children.
His eldest daughter, Deborah Denise Washington preceded him in death.
Isiah’s soulmate, Trudy preceded him in death only three months prior as he truly could not live without the love of his life!
Isiah leaves to cherish his memory, brother, Julius Washington (Christine) Goose Creek, SC; sister, Lazola Washington-Cope (General) Savannah, GA; son, Hayes Washington Sr.; daughter, Chalon; grandchildren: Trumina Foster, Nakia Marquis (Russell), Marquise Foster, Robert Washington, Nia Wright (Adam), Jasmine Washington (Prescott), Jada Washington, Jordan Washington, and Hayes Washington Jr; special cousin, Joseph Washington; 15 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
