Belle's obituary
Isabelle Russell, 80, of Delray Beach, FL passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022 in Cortlandt Manor, NY. Born on February 24, 1942 in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of Frederick and Isabelle Harraghy. Isabelle was a 1960 graduate of Yonkers High School. She married Gordon Russell, also of Yonkers in 1963.
Known to her friends and family as Belle, she spent 45 years in the service of various communities, including roles as a swimming instructor for the City of Yonkers, Director of Recreation and Parks for the Towns of Highland Falls and New Windsor, NY and as Executive Director of the Town of Wallkill Boys and Girls Club. Along the way she touched many lives, serving as an advocate, confidant and role model. Her kindness, generosity and compassion were boundless.
After leaving Yonkers in 1976, Belle lived in Middletown, NY for many years where she and Gordon raised their family and were active members of the community. After retirement she moved to Lake Ariel, PA where she was a member of St. Mary's Church and the community of Wallenpaupack Lake Estates, later settling in Delray Beach, FL. Among her many interests were spending time with family, travel and sewing.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon, son Gordon of Hurleyville, NY, daughter Audrey Austin (Mark) of Cortlandt Manor, NY, daughter Sharon Parr (Patrick) of Darien, CT, as well as grandchildren Jessica Austin and Isabelle, Bridget and Rory Parr.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
