Irma's obituary
Irma was born to Federico Fernandez Briones Sr. and Maria Rita Zapata on August 10, 1961 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. At a young age, she emigrated to San Antonio, TX. She graduated from Louis W. Fox Academic and Technical High School in 1980. After having her children, Irma became a U.S. Citizen in 2005 and achieved her BA in Education from Texas A&M University Kingsville in 2007. A lifelong learner with the desire to experience all the different passions the world has to offer, Irma had many occupations, most notably as a teacher for Southside ISD and most recently as a massage therapist.
The simplest pleasures in life brought so much joy to Irma. Her hobbies included yoga, meditation, dancing, and aromatherapy; she was passionate about keeping a healthy and active lifestyle. She was well-known to have a green thumb, able to nurse even the feeblest plants back to health. From plants to animals to people, Irma was always told that she had healing hands. Although she was a woman of many talents and interests, her top priority was family. She always made sure everyone knew how much they were loved.
Anyone that had the privilege of knowing Irma became enamored by her personality. She was the perfect balance of kind and strong and she always took on life with an admirable optimism and vigor. Irma radiated a magnetic, positive energy and everyone around her was captivated by her glow.
Irma F. Arredondo was greeted at the pearly gates by her father, Federico Fernandez Briones Sr. and sister, Sylvia Perales. She is survived by her children: Jose Arredondo, Bettina Arredondo, and Isaiah Arredondo; her only granddaughter and favorite companion, Lilyana Hernandez; her mother, Maria Rita Zapata, her siblings: Maria Isabel Trevino, Guillermina Gonzalez, and Federico Fernandez Jr.; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Irma will be remembered for so much, including her infectious laugh, ability to light up a room, and compassion for all living things. Her legacy lives on in her family and friends that will continue to live their lives to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, Irma would want you to do an unexpected act of kindness for someone else in her memory.
