Irene's obituary

On January 9th, Irene Laing Wasylow passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family, surrounded by so much love. Her children, Bradley (Tara Ducheminsky), Ryan (Sheila Comer), Kelly (Romain Demarchi), and Curtis (Danita Turner), were there to say goodbye, as were her cherished grandchildren, Indie, Brohm, and Alice, who each had the chance to share a final moment with their Nana and Grandma.

Irene was an extraordinary woman who gave of herself selflessly, offering love, support, and kindness to everyone in her life. She was the steady, loving presence that so many leaned on, from her family to countless friends, young and old. The outpouring of love and sorrow upon her passing has been overwhelming, with so many expressing how deeply her presence will be missed and how life won’t feel the same without her.

This May 23rd would have marked 50 years of an amazing, loving marriage between Irene and her devoted husband, Dennis. Their partnership was one of mutual respect, unwavering commitment, and deep love. Together, they built a beautiful life, supporting each other through every joy and challenge, while creating a family full of love and laughter. Their bond was truly inspiring, a testament to the power of enduring love and dedication. Irene was the love of Dennis' life; She was his Wine, Card, and Golf buddy, and their connection was the foundation upon which their family thrived.

Irene was also a fierce matriarch—a strong and determined woman who led her family with both courage and grace. Her wisdom, resilience, and boundless love created a foundation of strength and unity for everyone around her. She was a protector, a guide, and a source of inspiration, always setting an example of what it meant to live with purpose and compassion.

Over the course of  69 years, Irene built a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience. She was the heart and soul of her family—the "Rock" who kept everyone anchored. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she gave her all, creating a legacy of unconditional love and support that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Rest peacefully, Irene. You worked tirelessly to make everything better for everyone. Now it is your turn to rest, knowing you have left this world better for having been in it.

With all our love,

Your family and friends
