Irene's obituary
Irene Marie Fedrizzi Rizzardini was born on October 25, 1948 and died on September 27, 2025. She is survived by her husband, Larry Rizzardini; daughters Lisa Walters (James), Dawn Hobson (Dan), Ann Garot (Guy), 9 grandkids, three great-grandchildren and her brother, Richard Fedrizzi.
Irene was known to many in the community as “Mrs. R.” from her work as a resource specialist during her 29 year career at Sierra Sands Unified School District and from her time as a volunteer librarian at Saint Ann’s Parish School. She was active in the community as a Girl Scout Leader and as a member of the China Lake Desert Flames Auxiliary.
She loved camping, fishing, and family gatherings. Every evening she prayed her Rosary (as well as whenever she was a passenger for any of us when driving out of town.) Her daughters, grandkids and multitude of nieces and nephews remember her love of gardening and cooking, and especially cookies and candies at Christmas. She loved spending time with her grandkids, whether it was taking them to school, sneaking them treats from the school kitchen, driving through the Drive-Thru Dairy or playing board games (and teaching them how to cheat). She also had a great love for music - especially Elvis Presley. She was an advocate for education and loved books - whether it was for herself, her grandkids or the kids she worked with at the schools.
Irene did not want a funeral - she wanted everyone to gather and have a get-together instead. A Mass will be held in her honor on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10:00am at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church with a reception following at around 11:00am in the Monsignor Cleary Parish Hall. Everyone is welcome to attend either or both events.
