Irene's obituary
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Irene Deanna Ray, who left us peacefully on September 7, 2024. Born in 1938, Irene, fondly known as Deanna or Annie, lived a rich and fulfilling life full of service, resilience, and benevolence.
Irene is lovingly remembered by her 3 beloved children, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, amongst many others inspired by her life. Her unwavering resilience, warm heart, and hospitable nature made her a beacon of light to all who knew her. Through her guidance, she encouraged us all to persevere, keep praying, and to always be the first one to smile and say hello.
Irene's accomplishments were many and varied, but of particular note were her leadership within the Girl Scouts and her decades of unwavering service to her churches. Her urge to serve others and give back was a central facet of her personality, and it was contagious. Establishing a legacy of service and kindness, Irene never stopped looking for causes and people to support.
Her husband, Art, was her true soulmate. Together, they shared 40 wonderful years of love and companionship before his passing. Their love story continues to inspire those who knew them.
A viewing and memorial to celebrate Irene’s life will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Allen Brothers Mortuary in San Marcos (435 N Twin Oaks Valley Road, San Marcos CA 92069. Viewing will begin at 1:00 with service to start at 3:00. If you are able to attend, please wear something red in her honor. She would have loved to see the room full of color.

As we gather to bid farewell, we will remember Annie not with sadness but with gratitude for her life that touched so many and left this world better than she found it.
