Irene “Penny” (Rover) Yarwood, age 78, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. She was a resident of the St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly in Palatine, IL.

Penny was born October 17, 1941 in Chicago, IL, to Edmond and Irene (Giroux) Rover. She was a 1960 graduate of St. Edward’s High School, Elgin, IL.

Penny is survived by her large, loving family. She was the mother of Jeanine (Rich) Nichols, Laurie (Jeff) Binder, Brian (Sue) Yarwood, Craig (Erin) Yarwood, Sandy Yarwood, Scott (Lisa) Yarwood. She was adored by her grandchildren; Keith (Abi), Drew Nichols;
Kyle (Chloe), Jaime, Jenna Binder; Brianna (Drew) Cochrum, Jacob (Riannon) Yarwood; Brendan, Riley, Delaney Yarwood; Samantha, Sabrina, Matthew Tognocchi; Payton, Quincey Yarwood. She had one great-grandchild, Reese (Jenna) Ford. She is survived by her former spouse, Gary Yarwood.

Penny was very involved with St. Hubert’s Catholic Church and their Cursillo community, in Hoffman Estates, IL. She was an avid reader and knitter. It was her great pleasure to make afghans for all of her children and grand-children.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Carol Cuddy, Nancy Mauriello, June McCann, and their brother, Murray Rover. She had many nieces and nephews.

Due to the current pandemic, memorial service arrangements will be made at a later date.
