Irene's obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Irene Neal, also known as Tilly. Born on October 20, 1960, she left us too soon on April 4, 2024, surrounded with her family and friends after a 3 year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Irene is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years, William Neal, her loving daughters, Rena Johnson, and Anna Neal. She was a doting grandmother to William I Neal, Skylar R. Neal-Vela, Sierra Vela, Steven J. Rinehart, and Hartley Johnson JR. Irene is also survived by her siblings Raymond LaHaye, Lauriena Lenhart, Mary Jo Small, Betty Rivero, and Walter LaHaye. Predeceased by her parents Amy Badovinus and Raymond LaHaye, she also mourned the loss of her mother-in-law Ann Neal, sister-in-law Diana Neal, and brother-in-law James "Rusty" Neal.

A celebration of life for Irene will be held on May 11, 2024, at 8:45 PM at Holy Nativity Catholic Church.

Involved deeply with her community, Irene volunteered for the Arizona Old Time Fiddlers, Payson Lioness Club, and Payson Fire Department. She was a dedicated attendee at the Arizona Old Time Fiddlers. She also lovingly assisted her mother at Payson Lioness Club.

Irene’s life was full of joyous moments. She cherished sipping her favorite Starbucks Caramel Macchiato while watching her best-loved TV shows like Blue Bloods, Chicago Fire, and Chicago P.D. She loved spending time outdoors, especially camping and fishing. Her favorite vacation spots included Reservation Lake and Laughlin, and she had an unmistakable love for the color purple.

Known for her warm heart and vivacious spirit, Irene was a rare beautiful soul that could make anyone she met feel like family. Fiercely protective of her loved ones, she was equally warm and loving. Throughout her life, she exhibited true strength and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.

Her greatest pride was her family. Beyond that, she was highly active in her community, always ready to serve others. She was a compassionate caregiver, a supportive mother, and a dedicated wife. She was a fighter, forever ready to help anyone in need.

Today, we remember Irene as a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend. She instilled the values of true strength, dedication, and compassion in her children and left behind a legacy of love. She is sorely missed by everyone who was lucky enough to know her.
