Ira and Mel are next door neighbors to our son. They have always been helpful to him and watched his house when he comes to see us in Muscle Shoals. Although I only met Ira a few times over the years, he obviously was a fine man. Our son always spoke highly of him. Our deepest sympathy to Mel and the children.

We cannot imagine your grief and loss. Ira was such a force for good, and somewhere in there, even kept our old cars running.
Please know you are in our hearts and prayers.

I’m truly grieved at Ira’s sudden passing. For many years, Ira was “my” mechanic- and not a mechanic that you just drop off a car and then pay and pick up and that’s it until the next car repair - I genuinely cared about him - enjoyed speaking with him. He would talk about his wife, his girls, a trip. He made it evident he loved the Lord Jesus- in his speech, but mainly in his work ethic as a mechanic because he really did care about his work and his clients. I have had plenty of mechanics in my life, but none like Ira. Ira was MORE. He was indeed a good, godly man.
We bought my treasured little yellow mini cooper from him- the best car - and he knew I treasured that car. The last time I saw Ira, was a few weeks ago to see about the car as he was trying to resolve an issue with it- above and beyond what anyone else would have ever done- and we actually prayed together - about (over) my car -
I’m so very grateful to the Lord that that is my memory of seeing him last- that I will carry with me - praying over that little yellow mini cooper that he had once owned and enjoyed too.
May the Lord bring you His comfort when you so desperately need it.

Our deepest condolences to Ira’s entire family and friends. I will be forever in disbelief and saddened by Ira’s passing. I will always remember Ira as one of the most intelligent, honest, kind, fair and loyal people I have ever met and known. I will cherish how kind and warm he always was toward me- no matter how busy he was or what mood he may have been in at the time.
Hope to see you again some day, old friend…
