Ila's obituary
In Loving Memory of Ila Shah
Ila Shah, age 75, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends. She was born on April 15, 1951, in India, where she was raised as one of six children to her late parents, Kantilal Shah and Taramati Shah.
From an early age, Ila demonstrated determination and strength of character. In a time when opportunities for women were more limited, she broke barriers by earning her Bachelor of Science degree—an accomplishment that reflected both her intelligence and perseverance.
She later immigrated to the United States, where she built a meaningful and lasting life rooted in family, friendship, and community. Ila spent nearly 50 years in Maryland, where she became a cherished member of her community. She dedicated her professional life to healthcare, working as a Medical Technologist, a career through which she quietly impacted countless lives.
Above all, Ila was devoted to her family. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Kamal Shah; her children, Neal Shah and Nisha Mistry; and her four adored grandchildren, Ava, Mia, Logan, and Nora, who brought her immense joy in her later years.
Ila’s warmth, resilience, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and the family she nurtured.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at March Life Tribute Center, 7601 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD 20707.
