Ida's obituary

Ida Emma Velazquez, born on February 18, 1958, in Chicago, peacefully passed away in her sleep on March 14, 2024 at her home in Winter Springs. She is survived by her three beloved children, Rafael, Jose, and Yanira, and cherished by her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Raised in Puerto Rico, she was the proud daughter of Georgina Del Valle and Miguel Angel Velazquez. She was the youngest of three sisters; Mirna Cuevas and Norma Cuevas de Ayuso.

Ida earned her certifications at Instituto de Banca in Rio Piedras, PR and worked in the banking industry for many years before moving to North Carolina and devoting her life to raising her children. She loved dancing, bowling, trips to the beach and cooking. She re-entered the work force in the 2000’s and became a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Florida.

Her legacy of selflessness and unconditional love will forever resonate in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Ida was a vibrant soul, exuding life in every moment. Her smile could illuminate any room, and her laughter was a melody to all who were fortunate enough to hear it.

A service in memory of Ida will be held at Saint Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL on April 5, 2024 at 10 A.M. A second service will be held in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico at Parroquia María Madre de la Misericordia on April 21, 2024 at 6:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Sharing Center in honor of Ida's compassionate spirit and dedication to helping others.

Ida Emma Velazquez will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who carry her legacy forward. May she rest in eternal peace.
