Ian's obituary
Ian was a kind, generous, and creative soul, who had an incredibly infectious laugh. His passion was computer programming, but he also excelled as an artist and in-line skater. Ian enjoyed learning about new things and once he found a new interest, he would study tirelessly seeking to achieve an expert level of understanding. He loved to learn about cars, motorcycles, nature, animals, and psychology.
Following his grandfather’s example, Ian enlisted in the US Marines Corps after high school. He was promoted to Sargent and specialized in Cyber Network Operations. His service lasted from 2008-2013, with deployments in Afghanistan and Japan, and additional missions in Thailand, the Philippines, and Hawaii. During his service he was celebrated for his dedication, positive attitude, and professionalism. Ian received a Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, a Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, an Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 star, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons. He also earned a black belt in military martial arts. After leaving the Marines, Ian attended Columbia University where he studied Computer Science.
A service will be held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Saturday, September 11th, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
