Ian's obituary

Ian Bruce McCann, a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, was taken from us far too soon in a heartbreaking car accident on February 17, 2024, in Huntsville, Alabama. Born on May 17, 2005, in Great Falls, Montana, Ian's vibrant spirit and genuine warmth touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

From a young age, Ian was known for his outgoing nature and magnetic personality. A consummate extrovert, he always "just wanted to be with people." And people wanted to be with him. He effortlessly made friends wherever he went. Ian's love for fiery ramen was emblematic of his zest for life – always seeking out the spiciest experiences and flavors that life had to offer. His love for animals was equaled only by their love for him, and he jumped at every opportunity to pet-sit for numerous families in the area.

Described as unforgettable and lovable by those close to him, Ian's playful and striking eyes left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His wit and cleverness were matched only by his determination and confidence. Whether he was engaging in one of his many hobbies such as fishing, kayaking, wrestling, playing video games, watching anime, or exploring the outdoors, Ian's enthusiasm was infectious.

A member of Bob Jones High School’s class of 2023, Ian went on to graduate with honors from BTrained HVAC trade school and couldn’t wait to begin his first job in the industry, which he had just secured.

Ian was genuine and big-hearted, and he left an impact on all those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those who were touched by his charismatic presence.

Ian leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever be cherished by his beloved family and friends. He is survived by his parents Janelle and Collin McCann, sisters Moira and Meghan McCann, maternal grandparents Bruce and Jeanette Judisch, paternal grandparents Bruce and Sandra Wilhite, aunt and uncle Kim and Tom May and their five children, uncle and aunt Neal and Janice Judisch and their six children, uncle and aunt Barrett and Suzann McCann and their three children, uncle and aunt Stephen and Paige Wilhite and their two children, as well as godparents Stephen and Dara Hobbs and their two children. They all held a special place in his heart.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on February 25th at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home in Madison, Alabama. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM followed by the service at 3:30 PM, as family and friends gather to honor Ian's memory. Ian wouldn’t want a formal and stuffy service, so please come as you are and as you are comfortable.

In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to help the family give Ian the sendoff he so richly deserves. You can give at https://everloved.com/life-of….

Ian may have departed from this world prematurely, but the impact he made during his all-too-brief time among us will resonate eternally. As he is undoubtedly finding solace in the arms of Jesus, may we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear and take comfort knowing that Ian's legacy of love will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Ian will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
