Ian's obituary

In Loving Memory

IAN MICHAEL HALL

September 10, 1986-June 25, 2022

Ian passed away peacefully in Santa Cruz, CA on June 25, 2022. He is survived by his mother, Wendy Molin (Dan Mills), his father, Jeff Hall, his partner, Morgan Yodz, and his sisters, Sara Hall and Elise Hall, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

As a child, Ian was a treasure, with a bright smile and a quick wit. He was kind, thoughtful, and creative. He showed so much promise. He enjoyed many years of soccer, roller hockey, and Junior Lifeguards. Ian was an avid and elegant surfer. He spent countless hours enjoying the waves in Santa Cruz and especially loved the midtown breaks: Black’s, the river mouth and the wharf. He also surfed in Hawaii, Mexico, Costa Rica, Peru and, most recently, Chile. He was an adventurous and free-spirited soul and was lucky to have been able to hike to Machu Picchu, one of the most amazing wonders of this world.

Ian’s life ended too early, but he has now found the peace he so desperately searched for here on Earth. He was loved by many, and we will miss him every day for the rest of our lives.

We will celebrate Ian’s life on Saturday, September 24th on the bluff at Seascape Park at 9:30am. A paddle-out at Cowell’s, his first surf spot, will take place on Sunday, September 25th at 10am.
