HP was a mentor for many young professionals in GRC. I had happy times spent at HP and TingTing's house. He will be missed by many of us!

HP might have been the little brother in his family but to me he was the wise big brother.  He was kind and generous. He  had great career accomplishments.  His best decision was marrying Tingting and having his beautiful family.  We love you HP…

We came to know HP and Ting-Ting after our move to Albany, NY in 1987. From the start, HP helped my husband out at GE R&D. He and Ting-Ting hosted countless parties at their lovely home. I still remember the delicious food personally prepared by them, the laughter, and the warm atmosphere surrounding us. When my elderly parents visited us, HP even took them out boating in the Mohawk River, making them extremely happy.

After we left NY in 2000, we stayed in touch. One time we met for lunch in SF. HP had to fight the terrible SF traffic and parking, but he still seemed to enjoy the time spent with an old friend. HP also organized a gathering for all GE R&D alumni in Taipei. The attendance was high, we got to see many long-lost friends. Everyone had a great time in the private dining room arranged by him. Thank you HP for so many great memories in our lives made possible by you!

HP had tirelessly devoted to the mission of promoting the Asian community in the US. Last year he was still energetically campaigning for several Asian candidates and inspiring others to follow. That was why I was so shocked to hear about his early departure. HP, you had worked so hard for what you truly cared about and achieved so much in life. Please Rest In Peace.

My heartfelt condolences to TingTing, Michelle, Kevin and family!

I first met HP and TingTing through a mutual friend at GE Global Research.  Our friendship grew stronger after I attended numerous gatherings at HP and TingTing's house, for Chinese festivals, for APAF events, for 80-20, for APAPA, for simply hanging out with friends. We always had feast at HP and TingTing's place and always had delicious food to bring home after the meals. We did a lot of Asian community events in HP's basement, his dinner table, and his backyard. I still remember that one time, when US Congressman Paul Tonko, Congresswoman Grace Meng, APAPA co-founder CC Yin and others joined HP at his patio and backyard for a party, there were too many people on the patio that it collapsed during the ceremony. No one got hurt and it ended with humor and laughter.

HP was such a great mentor and role model to me and other young professionals, he was passionate about getting Asians' voice heard and earning Asians equal opportunities, he devoted a lot of his personal time, money, and effort to serve the community. He provided a platform for us to meet new friends through his introduction. He was kind, loving, generous and devoting. He was a larger than life figure in our community. Above all, he was a great friend that I will miss dearly! Rest in Peace, HP.

With sympathy,

Xiaohui Chen

Ting Ting:  It was certainly a shook and sad when we received the Email. We have known each others for so long. And how about the tremendous fond memories on our European cruise trip together in 2019.  We roamed many many places and the streets of the Rome. Still remember after we settled down in the Rome hotel, HP said now followed me to the best Chinese restaurant. He is always full of confidence. Not sure about that restaurant but it was good and we went back again and again.  And before that, the lunch at your house when you always put together a feast.   Ting Ting: Please accept our heartfelt condolences to you and your family, and hope that all your wonderful memories will bring you comfort and peace in the coming days.              Steve and Alice Tung

One day in 1976, at the GE R&D Center, I was asked to interview a young engineer seeking a job - Hsin-Pang Wang. I voted to hire him, one of the very best actions I took during my long GE career. I worked closely with HP for many years, as he became one of the brightest stars in the organization. His projects were usually “moonshots,” seeking answers to GE’s most difficult technical problems, and he always came through with answers, often creating innovative methods to solve the problems.

Beyond technology, HP and TingTing were dear friends for more than 45 years. For me, they were a window into Chinese culture and history, Chinese food, the evolving relationships between China and the United States, the mysteries of tea, and gardening. Chris and I are deeply saddened by HP’s passing. May he rest in peace, and may TingTing, Michelle and Kevin find strength in this difficult time.
