Howard's obituary
Howard was born on October 14, 1940, in Minneapolis to Edwin and Agnes (Schoenbauer) Christenson. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis and Dunwoody Institute. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in August of 1963 and served in Thailand and South Vietnam.
Howard married Carol Mertesedorf on June 6, 1964. Together they raised four sons.
Howard worked as an auto mechanic his entire career. Starting with Motor Inn Chevrolet in St. Peter, Minnesota, he later joined Schuck Chevrolet in Nicollet as the Service Manager. After Schuck Chevrolet moved to New Ulm, Howard and Carol started C&C Auto Repair in Nicollet and retired in 2006.
After retirement they enjoyed spending summers at their camper in northwest Minnesota. Howard enjoyed fishing, camping, watching sports, supporting fellow veterans, and spending time with his family and friends.
Left to remember Howard are children: Todd (Lesley), Chad (Lori), Curt and Dustin (Nicole); grandchildren: Taylor, Hannah, Cedric, Evelynn, Edwin, and Carly; brothers-in-law John (Bonnie), Duane and Glenn (special friend Carol); sisters-in-law: Dottie, Ev and Arlowen; and numerous relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, and beloved dog Katie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. Peter Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall located at 427 West Mulberry Street in St. Peter, Minnesota, on Saturday, January 21, 2023, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Food and refreshments will be served.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to your local animal shelter or veterans group.
