Sam was born on February 16, 1940 to Alfred and Maeola thomas in Hot Springs, NC. He went to school at Madsion School until 1956.
After school, he worked very hard in the tobacco and tomato fields. He worked for Magnovox in Greeneville, TN, a long time worker and friend of Finley Excavation and also for Ricker Trucking. No matter what job he was doing, he was an extremely hard worker at what ever he endeavered.
