Thomas Hoke Currie

July 30, 1967 - April 29, 2022

Columbia, South Carolina - Thomas Hoke Currie, recently of Augusta, GA, joined the choir invisible on April 29, 2022, at the age of 54.

Hoke was born July 30, 1967, in Wilmington, NC to Tom and Ann Currie, becoming the eldest of their three children.

He was a lifelong learner and sharer of the knowledge he gained and was an avid collector of friends, extended family, skills, and interminable shaggy dog or dad jokes. A true Renaissance man, Hoke was an accomplished musician, artist, and thespian. His favorite roles were Kris Kringle and 17th-century pirate. He received a degree in biology from St. Andrews University before moving to Columbia, SC where he met his wife. He became a business owner, a coder, and a valued member of Rural Sourcing Inc, at the Augusta Development Center where he was a mentor and friend to many.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; his children, Jessica, Zebulon, Daniel, and Liberty; his siblings, Margaret, and Paul; his parents, Tom, and Ann; and a multitude of friends and loved ones.

Hoke was laid to rest at Greenhaven Preserve under the oak, pine, and hickory trees he loved so well. In lieu of donations, flowers, or other remembrances, we ask that you make a pledge to carry his torch by keeping your heart open to any possibility to help make the world a better place. We suggest the ACLU, the Arbor Day Foundation, or a humanitarian organization of your choice.
