Hipolita's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Hipolita Flores Crespo, who left this world peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on August 13, 1945, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, Hipolita—affectionately known as “Polly” to many—was a woman known for her warmth, humor, dedication, and caring spirit. She was the beloved daughter of the late Joaquin Flores and Anastasia Crespo.
Hipolita dedicated many years of service as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Marian Manor before her retirement. Her compassion for others extended far beyond her profession. She was a devoted and long-time member of the St. Mary’s Church community, where her faith and commitment made a lasting impact. Among her many meaningful contributions, she was honored with the prestigious Marian Award, a recognition that reflected her deep devotion, selflessness, and tireless efforts to help others.
Polly had a gift for bringing joy to those around her. She was always ready with a joke to brighten someone’s day or a helping hand for anyone in need. Her family will always remember her as an incredible cook who loved gathering her loved ones around the table to share meals and laughter. Despite all she accomplished, her greatest joy in life came from the simple moments spent with her family.
Her nurturing spirit created an unbreakable bond with those she loved, and the memories they shared will forever remain in their hearts. While we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the countless lives she touched with kindness and love.
Hipolita is survived by her devoted daughter, Johanna Arruda and her husband Mathew Arruda; her cherished son, Carlos Rosenblum and his husband Shadde Rosenblum; her brothers, Rafael Flores Crespo and Ismael Ortiz; and her beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Arruda, Victoria Arruda, and Nikolas Arruda.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Sor Gabriela Flores Crespo, Benito Flores Crespo, Eugenio Flores Crespo, Aida Flores Crespo, Ignacio Flores Crespo, Juanita Flores Crespo, Maria Socorro Flores Crespo, Providencia Gonzalez, and Alfonsa Flores Crespo.
Hipolita also leaves behind many extended family members and friends in both the United States and Puerto Rico who will forever cherish her memory.
She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, faith, and generosity will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.
A memorial Mass will be announced at a later date.
