Hilton B. Johnson came into this world on May 6, 1947 in Pineville, LA to the late Hilton Bannister and Virgie A. Johnson. He made his triumphant transition to glory on November 23, 2022 with his eyes looking toward Heaven. Assuredly the angels rejoiced at his arrival.
Pastor Johnson grew up in Simmesport, LA. He graduated from Dunbar High in Simmesport and attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. He later moved to Houston, TX where he met and married Miss Norma Jean Williams on September 25, 1967 and remained married to her for 30 years until her passing in 1997. From this union two daughters were born, Misty Turner, of Baltimore, MD and Mesha White of Houston, TX. In addition, he leaves three grandchildren Kelsi Nichelle Senegal, Kiara Nyree White and Marquis Terrell Morris a sister Pamela Porter (Mike Porter), the Grace Tabernacle Church family and a host of family and friends to cherish his memory.
Pastor Johnson worked at ExxonMobil for 33 years and during that time was called into ministry in 1981. He was led by God to establish Grace Tabernacle Church in 1984, where he was affectionately called “Pastor”. Pastor Johnson trusted God completely and despite his illness, he still preached the gospel until the day he was called home.
