CITA's obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Hilda "Cita" Santiago, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who slipped away peacefully on February 18, 2026. Born in 1943, Cita, as she was affectionately known by many, touched many lives with her quiet strength, compassion, and wisdom.
Cita is survived by her daughters: Milagros Santana, Hilda Santana, son Herminio Santana and his wife Ule Santana, her grandchildren: Anthony, Juan, Skyi, Noah, Seth, Kyle, Kiara, Amaris, her great grandchildren: Kylee and Messiah, her sisters Flor, Carmen, Lulu, Rosa Julia, her brother Gilberto, nieces and nephews, all who continue Cita’s legacy. Her profound caring nature and steadfast spirit resonated through all she did, most notably proud of her three children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Indeed, Cita's love for her family was a beacon that guided her every action and decision.
Remembered for her wisdom and resilience, Cita often taught others to never give up, and remain strong through life's struggles. Her wise counsel or advice, along with her infectious laughter, her quiet moments, and her captivating storytelling, will forever be missed by those who had the privilege to know her.
Cita's legacy is one of kindness and a family united. As the matriarch of the family, she was the glue that kept everyone connected and together. Her strength, her love, her wisdom will continue to guide and inspire her family, friends and everyone she has left behind.
A viewing and celebration of life for Cita will be held at Ortiz Funeral Home, Southern Blvd location beginning at 8am-12:00pm. The burial will proceed after. Departure to Kensico Cemetery will be at 12:30pm.
As we come together to celebrate her life, we remember not just the fact of her passing but also the richness of her life, the strength of her character, and the warmth of her love.
Cita's passing leaves a void that will never be filled, but her spirit, her values, and her love remain with us, inspiring us and guiding us. She will forever be missed, loved, and remembered.
