Herschel Albert Mooney, 17, passed away suddenly at home in Parkesburg on Monday, February 2, 2026. Born in West Chester to Brigitte DeGroff and Michael Mooney, Herschel spent his earliest years in the Boston area before moving to Seattle, Washington. Returning to Chester County in 2015, Herschel attended the Coatesville Area School District.

He was a member of the Gifted Program, National Honor Society, and the Art Club. Herschel was bright, intelligent, always active and especially loved walking outdoors. He studied MMA, boxing, and was an avid bodybuilder and nutrition enthusiast. Herschel's always expanding love of music and keen interest in gaming was evident to all that knew him.

Herschel had long-term plans to attend college and pursue a career in either the Mental Health, Exercise Science, or Sound Design professions. A perceptive, caring, and adored member of the family, Herschel is survived by his older brother, younger sister, parents, stepfather, aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and devoted grandparents.
