Hank's obituary
Henry "Hank" Wolicki, 84, passed away on March 6, 2025, surrounded by his family. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many lives he touched.
Born on August 23, 1940, Hank was the son of Antoinette and Henry Wolicki. He grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors, a love that stayed with him throughout his life.
On November 28, 1969, he married Jeannine (Soloy) Wolicki, and together they shared 55 years of marriage built on love, mutual respect, and a shared appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. He was a dedicated father to Matthew (Alecia), Gregg, Andrew (Colleen), and Derek (Gina), and a proud grandfather to Josh, Ben, Zach, Lila, Anna, and Brendan. He was blessed with step-grandchildren, Nick DiPaola (Megan), Sam Smith (Ryan), Toni, Bryan, and Kyle Morgan, as well as step-great-grandchildren, Isabel, William, Van, Jed, Wes, Tabitha, Matilda, and Ezekiel. His loving sister, Sylvia (Bob), along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins, will forever hold him in their hearts.
Hank worked as a diesel engineer at General Motors for nearly 40 years, bringing a sharp mind and quiet dedication to his work. In retirement, he enjoyed splitting his time between Florida winters with Jeannine and summers at the family cabin on Lake Superior in Brimley, a place that brought him great peace.
An avid fisherman, Hank found solace in the rhythm of casting a line and waiting patiently in the stillness of nature. He loved long walks, often lost in thought, and found comfort in the steady beauty of the outdoors. He also had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys—starting each morning with a strong cup of coffee and sharing his days with the loyal companionship of his beloved dogs, including past family pets Duke and Chips. Hank was also an avid reader, finding joy and inspiration in books throughout his life.
A thoughtful and observant man, Hank preferred deep conversation to small talk and had a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antoinette and Henry Wolicki, as well as his brother, Melvin (Rosalie).
A Funeral Mass for Hank will be celebrated on Friday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Parish in South Lyon. His ashes will be laid to rest at Mission Hill Cemetery in Brimley at a later date.
A private memorial dinner was held earlier on March 15th at Baker’s of Milford, where close friends and family gathered to honor his memory and share cherished stories.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in Hank’s honor.
Hank was a man of quiet contemplation, steady devotion to his family, and he had a lifelong love of nature. He will be deeply missed.
