Heliodoro's obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Heliodoro "Junior" Ponce, Jr., lovingly known as Junior. Born on January 11, 1942, he completed his earthly journey on September 5, 2024.
Heliodoro's life was blessed with bountiful relationships. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Diana Ponce, and his beloved daughters, Renee Nealon, Tamara Brikovich, and Amber Cummings. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren Jordan Cummings, Maya Nealon, Natalia Nealon, Nico Nealon, and Jennifer Garcia. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Dolores Spradlin. Heliodoro was predeceased by his parents, Heliodoro and Mary Ponce, his brother Paul Ponce, and his sister Phyllis Julian.
Heliodoro's early life involved a commitment to education, having graduated from Richmond High School, situated on 23rd Street in Richmond, CA, in 1961. Shortly after, he found the love of his life, Diana, and they married in 1962. His devotion to his work led him to a fulfilling career at La Perla Delicatessen, from which he retired in 2014.
Heliodoro was a devout attendee at St. Paul's Catholic Church, where he found spiritual solace. He was known for his love of cycling, a hobby he cherished during his 40s. Heliodoro's infectious spirit and his love for life will be profoundly missed by his loved ones. His memory will be cherished, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
