Helen's obituary

Helen B. Woods, of Brookdale Quincy Bay, Quincy, MA, died peacefully at the Dr. Ruth McLain Hospice Home in Braintree on Tuesday, December 15, 2020. She was 87.

Born in Middletown, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Constance Bonvino. She was one of six daughters with her sisters Julie, Margaret, Elizabeth, Mary, and Doris. Helen graduated from Central Connecticut College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and taught elementary school in Connecticut and New York State and also substitute taught in the Norwell, MA school system for many years.

Helen was a resident of Quincy for the past two years and prior to that was a Florida resident for the previous 17 years living in Boynton Beach after many years of raising a family in Norwell, MA. Helen was an avid reader and crafts person often making many gifts for her extended family and friends. Loving the warm weather, Helen could often be seen outside on the deck or poolside working on her tan.

Helen was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Henry, who passed away in 2018 and her son, Nicholas, who passed away in 1980. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Norris and son-in-law, Christopher Norris of Cohasset, MA and her son, Gregory Woods and daughter-in-law, Kim Woods of Beverly, MA and three grandchildren, Ben Norris and Nick and Katy Woods. Additionally, she touched the lives of many, being either surrogate grandmother or β€˜Auntie Nance’ to many more. She will be missed by many.

There will be no memorial service.
