Helen passed peacefully at home with family and friends on December 27th, 2017. She is survived by a daughter, Elise McManus, a son David McManus (Jenny), three grandchildren Zan Peters, Sophie Peters, and Sonja McManus, seven siblings Charles Binder (Janie), Catherine Rogers (Kevin), Mary Sebastyn, Joseph Binder (Denise), John Binder, Laurette Nevitt (Jerry), and Thomas Binder as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Helen was loved by all those close to her. She possessed a wisdom and wit which friends and family knew well. There was a musicality about her presence; She was deeply moved by beautiful music, simplicity, and calmness; She had a patience and steadiness with those who depended on her daily. She had a sense of responsibility, a work ethic, and believed in doing whatever you do well. She never short-changed others, cheated, or took extra for herself. Perhaps her best quality was her gratitude and appreciation of the smallest, gentlest things in life. A cup of tea in the morning was genuinely wonderful to her and she'd say how lucky and grateful she felt. A little bird landing on her back porch railing would bring a smile to her face or even evoke a response in a tiny bird voice "Well, hello, little buddy.' She was happiest with the small things, the lovely details. She sometimes rued her lack of worldly financial success and sometimes obsessed on the inequities and injustices of the world. But she simplified, grew wiser over her lifetime and left these bags behind her, emerging with just the peaceful and content person of great gratitude and a tremendous love of others... And life itself. She is greatly missed.
