Throughout her life, Chrissa's natural passion was singing! While at Westside High School in Omaha, she discovered and showcased her vocal talents. During high school, Chrissa was a constant member of Warrior Voices and other choirs and was often cast in many musical theater productions. After her senior year, the summer musical at Westside was "Annie Get Your Gun," and Chrissa was cast as Annie Oakley. Plus, every sibling of hers except one was in the show, too!
She continued singing during her time at UNL as well as every church she joined and almost any other opportunity that arose. Even an impromptu operatic Happy Birthday to a bemused barista at a coffee shop!
After contracting severe COVID in October 2022, she first needed intubation, and then a tracheotomy to survive.
That first tracheotomy robbed her of her ability to speak clearly and then sadly, her singing voice. Yes, she was still alive, but heartbroken.
After subsequent serial cases of pneumonia, she underwent yet another tracheotomy. This was to be the last straw for her.
So, in memory of our beautiful sister, who had a joyful passion for singing, playing the piano, and the theater arts, please follow the instructions below to donate to the Westside Alumni Association in her name. We will then designate all funds received to support Scholarships in the Theater Arts for deserving students so that they may carry on her joy and passion.
