Helen's obituary

Mrs. Helen White Lewis, 102 yrs of age, passed on March 1, 2021 in Winter Haven, Fla. She was married to the late Mr. Harrison (Wolfer/Wolf) Lewis, Sr. who played baseball in the Old Negro Baseball League with Satchel Page and Hank Aaron. Mrs. Lewis was devoted Christian and member of First Union Missionary Baptist Church in Meridian, MS. She received her AA degree from TJ Harris Junior College in Meridian, Ms. Mrs. Lewis worked and retired from Head Start as a Social Worker and Site Director for more than 35 years. She was known as Dear, Ma Dear, Mom, Momma, Mama, Mommy, and Mrs. Lewis. At age 102, Mrs. Lewis went home to the Lord. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Mr. Harrison Lewis, Sr. And her children Mary Ann Kelly, Wilmore Johnson and Harrison(Truth Master) Lewis Jr. Left behind to cherish her memories include Catherine(Larry) Wydermyer of Nevada, Vivian(Alfred) Webster of South Carolina, Joyce(Clifton) Garrison of Nevada, Helen Marie Lewis of Florida, Audray Lewis of Florida, Eric(Gaye) Lewis of Florida and Aprille Jackson of Mississippi, fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In memory, viewing will be offered for Mrs. Helen White Lewis at Berry and Gardner Funeral Home 1300 - 34th Ave Meridian, MS. on Friday, March 12, 2021 (6:30 - 7:30 p.m.) Graveside burial service will be held at Magnolia Cemetery 2638 - 23rd Ave Meridian, MS. at 2:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by Rev. Melvin Hendricks of First Union Baptist Church Meridian, Mississippi
