Helen's obituary
Helen Yvette Hillman of Sidney Iowa unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, February 28th, 2023.
Helen was born March 7th, 1954, to Thalia Valjean and Melvin Washington Childers in Cincinnati Ohio. She Spent most of her life in San Manuel and Oracle Arizona where her family owns and operates Mel’s Drive Inn as well the Chaparral. After Helen graduated from San Manuel High School in 1972, she went on to take classes at both Central Arizona Community College and The University of Arizona.
In 1973 Helen married Harry Fred Hillman IV. Together they moved to St. Louis, Missouri with their dog Whiskey, kitty Felicia and a box of kittens, where she would become a real estate agent and have three children: Elena, Harry V, and Nancy. Some of Helen’s favorite things to do in this time was to make jewelry out of amethyst and spend summers at the Hillman family cottage in Pentwater, Michigan.
In 2000 Helen moved back to Arizona to Help with her family’s business. During this time, she also worked as a CNA, and enjoyed traveling and going to festivals. In 2005 She Married Allen Lee Bird. In 2008 Helen, Allen and their two dogs Peanut and Lucky moved back to Missouri to be with their children and grandchildren. They made a home in Mexico MO. until 2012 when Allen passed away due to cancer.
In 2015 Helen moved back to Arizona again to help with her ill father and their business. She stayed there until 2022 when she moved to Sidney, Iowa to be with her partner of 8 years Robert Hutt. She and Rob took many trips together and shared caring for Helen's newest love “Little Bit”.
Helen was a beautiful soul; she could light up a room with her quick wit and she would drop everything at the drop of a dime to help any one of her friends and family members. If you needed her, she was always right there. She had a deep love for her fur babies and Grandchildren. She had a passion for the outdoors, dressing up and jewelry. She enjoyed the thrill of fast cars, music, and motorcycles. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
She is proceeded in death by her Husband Alan Bird, Father Melvin Childers, Daughter in Law Hannah Hillman, and Fur Babies Lucky and Peanut.
She is survived by her Partner Robert Hutt, Mother Valjean Childers, Children Elena Hausmann (Jay), Harry Hillman V, Nancy Diederich, Grandchildren Gage Valentine (Sara), Marissa Breyfogle (Cody), Bryce Diederich, Harry Hillman VI, Zefire Kennedy, Great Grandchildren Elise Cugley, Lilah, Tristen and Nora Breyfogle, Siblings Mark Childers, Lisa Langhammer, Nieces Amanda Alvarado, Alyssa Gough, Carmen Childers, Melissa Harris, Kathleen Bonasera and Nephew Earle Paul Gough. As well as several other family members whom she loved wholesomely.
