Helen's obituary

Helen Riggs Dwyer Beck, 98, of Catonsville, Maryland, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 28, 2020. Born January 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Franklin Paul Dwyer and Sarah Riggs Dwyer. During the World War II years, she was employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad as an executive secretary. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin Clark Beck. Following his death in 1973, she attended the Community College of Baltimore County, Catonsville; where she earned her Associate in Arts degree in 1976. She was then employed by St. Agnes Hospital until her retirement. She was an active member of The Episcopal Church of Christ the King. She is survived by her daughters, Gail Wachter of Parkton; Jeanne Ross of Chatham, New Jersey; and Cynthia Homans of Baltimore; by her adoring granddaughters, Heather Toto, Melanie Whipple, Lauren Ross, Riley Colley, Ashleigh Douglas, Julie Riddick, Elizabeth Homans, and Alicia Homans; and by ten great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, cooking, playing bridge; and she was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles. Most of all, she loved her family, her friends, and her Lord Jesus Christ. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at 12 noon, at The Episcopal Church of Christ the King, 1930 Brookdale Road, Baltimore, Maryland 21244. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to The Christian Community Center, 1412 Hollins Street, Baltimore MD 21223. Note: Due to coronavirus, memorial service will not take place on May 9.
