The first time I met Heike she was wearing a bold and powerful suit coat, with the fluff in the shoulders, and it was a brilliant bright color. I was young, 18 at the time, and I had my first job and she was a supervisor at Sears. She was standing behind the jewelry counter, looking like a stoic boss lady and I was afraid to go up to her but I sucked it up and went to talk to her. She was kind and supportive, she made me feel welcome and part of the team. I remember the day that I told her about two girls tearing up the fitting room and then found out one belonged to her :) and I was so scared cuz I had been sarcastic and told them to clean up after themselves... lol I was afraid Jenni would tell her and I would get fired. Later Jenni, Heike, and I all worked at Sears together. Jenni and I became best friends and Heike was the supportive mother figure I never had for many years. She taught culture and held me accountable for the decisions I made in my life, even if I did end up staying at her house many nights and brought her daughter home too late many times. <3
