Heather's obituary
Heather Nicole McNeil (Bemis) of Bangor, Maine passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 28, 2024 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Heather was born on August 21 to her mother Gayle Douglas in Portland, Maine, spending much of her childhood on Peaks Island and in Wells, Maine surrounded by her mother’s family. In the 10th grade, Heather’s family relocated to Bangor, Maine where she attended Bangor High School for two years when she transferred to the Good Samaritan School where she received her diploma. After graduating, Heather quickly found a career in customer service with Verizon wireless where she made lifelong friends and truly enjoyed her work. She went on to bring that same professional enthusiasm to her work in social services, real estate sales, and most recently at RAYUS Radiology where she was a valued member of the team.
Heather’s greatest joy in life was her three children Michaela, Ella, and Nolan. She was a dedicated mother and her love for them is infinite. She was a gifted cook and homemaker who took pride in preparing a meal for her family at holidays or any time they gathered. She loved music and dancing, especially with her kids. She loved to spend summer days at the beach relaxing with her kids. Heather always allowed her children to be themselves and encouraged them in all they pursued.
Heather was predeceased by her grandparents Richard and Faith Bemis and her mother Gayle Douglas. She is survived by her three children Michaela Costello, Ella Costello, and Nolan McNeil, sister Mary Clark, brother Michael Douglas and wife Emily and their children Faith, Grace and Emma. Heather is also survived by her fiancée Matthew Murray who has been a loving partner in recent years.
At this time Heather’s children are adjusting to life without their beloved mother and will plan a celebration of life which will be announced at a later date in the warm months of summer. The children are grateful for all the outpouring of support from friends and family during this very difficult time.
