Hazel's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved and only child, Hazel Marie Sylvia (formerly known as Conner J. Wallace) on June 17, 2025 in Tacoma, Washington. Born August 26, 1997. Hazel was a graduate of Bremerton High School and attended Olympic College. Hazel found joy in drawing, writing, anime, music, and reading. She cherished time spent with friends and family and had a heart that instinctively reached out to help others. Hazel is survived by her mother, Elizabeth M. McNine, stepfather Leon E. Grice, and daughter Elenna Rose Wallace. She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Rose Marie (Aliberti) Reade.
In honoring her memory, donations can be made to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA). I kindly urge you to take the time to understand and educate yourself about Gender Dysphoria before forming judgments. Strive to show compassion toward those who are already enduring immense pain, please don’t be the one to add to their burden. If someone had been there for her while she was sitting at War Memorial Park for who knows how long, maybe things could have ended differently. I don't even know if there was anyone there, and if they were kind or cruel.
To lose someone like Hazel is a tragedy. In her honor, we ask that you look closer at those around you—behind every struggle is a human being deserving of grace. Reach out to the lonely, hold your loved ones tighter, and never underestimate the power of kindness. Rest in peace, Hazel. You are loved. You are seen.
