Hazel's obituary
With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Hazel Plotnikoff on November 13, 2025, in Grand Forks, British Columbia. Born on February 11, 1937, in the same close-knit community where she spent her life, Hazel’s journey came full circle in the town that shaped her and that she helped shape in return.
Hazel was a devoted mother of three - Rodrick, Corrine, and Gary (Trudie). She was a cherished grandmother to Shayna (Daan), Jesse (Alyssa), Brent (Jamie), and Keanna, and a proud great-grandmother to Holden Plotnikoff and Adalyn Arscott. Her family was the heart of her world, and she nurtured each generation with care, wisdom, and affection.
She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings Peter (Jane), Grace (Vince), and predeceased by her sister Lola, each holding a special place in her heart throughout her life.
She is now reunited with her husband, George Plotnikoff. Their union was one of quiet strength and shared devotion. Though George passed away many years ago, Hazel carried his memory with grace and found comfort in their lasting connection.
Throughout her life, Hazel found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a passion for sewing and gardening. And few things brought her more happiness than sharing coffee with friends - moments filled with laughter, stories, and companionship.
To those who knew her, Hazel was a source of comfort and warmth. Her presence brought calm; her kindness left an imprint on all who crossed her path. She lived with quiet dignity and offered steady love to those around her.
Hazel’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched - She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, care aides, and staff at Phoenix Manor for their compassionate care and support.
