Background
Although Nana had made a will that directs us on how she wanted her cremation expenses and services to be paid for by her Estate with retiring her utility capital credit accounts, it's not that easy nor swift a process to acquire those funds. Once the required purchased court approved document is finally approved and delivered by mail, it will be another 4-6 weeks until the funds are available. At this point, it has been 6 weeks since her passing and her remains are still property of the Cremation Society of Alaska, without an anticipated time or guarantee anytime soon, as complications continue to arise with disagreements..
The application i submitted for General Relief assistance for cremation expenses has been denied. This weighs heavy on the heart of one burdened with feelings of responsibility and the lack of resources to rely on other than when the Estate makes it through to probate proceedings and there is ever a Personal Representative finally appointed.. another 4-6 weeks?!
I just want to BRING NANA (Hazel) HOME as soon as possible in honor of her life and as i know she would do for me or anyone else if it was within her ability. Slowed now is the process of grief and loss that requires acceptance in the form of something tangible for some, be it an outdoor memorial site, necklaces, an urn in her home or even the ability to plan for her Celebration of Life... Grieving should not be hindered by the headaches of probate.
The cost of cremation is over $1300. The chosen urn plus the family urn necklaces equal about $260. The remainder of the fund goal is intended for possible location rental fees and necessities for the "open" Celebration of Life, including copies & enlargements of Hazel's photos. There will be 2 gatherings announced at a later date, one restricted to family only and another open to all whom have had the privilege to be touched by the life of such an amazing force of a lady..
