Hazel's obituary
OBITUARY
Mrs. Hazel Mae Devane, daughter of Annie Virginia Bryant and John William Bryant Sr., was born June 11, 1950, in Portsmouth, Virginia, where she was raised, and attended the public school system. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ. God called her number from his heavenly scroll, and she quietly departed this life January 22, 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
She was united in holy matrimony to Peter McNeal, on July 22, 2005.
Hazel had a caring spirit and loved taking care of others; to this end, she became a Certified Nurse Aide and practiced actively at various medical organizations in the greater NC triad area until her health began to fail her. She continued serving the elderly population as a dietary aide at Britthaven, Greensboro until her failing health forced her to retire. As a result of her generous spirit and outgoing personality, she never met a stranger, and was loved by many. Hazel lived her life with vigor and a free spirit. She was affectionately known as “Hurricane” by those closest to her, and was the life of the party wherever she went. She was kind-hearted and would fix you a meal or give you the shirt off of her back; everyone who knew her, loved her, and her legacy will forever remain in the lives of all whose spirit she touched.
She was preceded in death by her father John William Bryant Sr. and her mother Annie Virginia Corbett; one sister, Clara Louise Bryant; and five brothers, Rev. Linwood Lee Corbett (Mary), Carl Lee Bryant, John William Bryant Jr. (Wilma), Rollen Corbett (Mae), Collen Corbett (Martha); and one nephew, Vichon Anthony Fuller.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her survivors: husband, Peter McNeal (of the home); two brothers Joe Kenneth Bryant (Laura) of San Antonio, TX, and Deacon James Earl Bryant of Greensboro, NC; two special sister-in-laws, Wilma Bryant of Greensboro, and Mary Corbett of New Jersey; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great nephews, cousins and friends.
