Hazel's obituary

Hazel Charlotte Behrendt

loving mother, sister, Aunt & Grandmother left us Earth side on January 29, 2024.

Born on July 3 (no year intentionally shared) Hazel was a woman of immense strength, resilience, and beauty. She lived a rich life full of love, laughter, travel, art, and had so many beautiful memories with us.

From her time working as a legal secretary, to her trip to Burning Man- Hazel always lit up the room and we know she loved a good party.

The family has a history working within the Forest Products/ lumber industry, and she blazed the trail as a woman back when women just didn’t do that. She showed her enthusiasm and support of the family business as a member of the Hoo-Hoo-Ettes (Hoo Hoo is a fraternal Forest Products organization built on fellowship, trust, goodwill & relationships) and held onto her pins all these years.

Hazel loved to travel -she enjoyed many cruises to the Caribbean with her husband Ric, and also enjoyed trips to New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras-(we did find some beads in her things but we avoided any questions)

She appreciated good food and the beauty of birds outside her window. She loved animals and had cherished pets through the years. I imagine she has her beloved Tito on her lap right now watching all of us celebrate her.

Hazel was very artistic, which she expressed in her painting-we have some here today with us. She also put together some amazing costumes for Halloween, please see the photo shared of her as Wonder Woman.

Hazel was also a Fashion plate-she was always very put together and everything matched perfectly from her shoes & accessories, to the lining or trim on her outfits. You could always find her wearing leopard prints or her favorite color burgundy which is also non coincidentally the color of wine. In her later years her favorite bedroom piece was her hat rack, which she rotated out seasonally to fit the weather, of course.

Hazel is survived by her beloved husband Ric, Daughters Jennifer & Julie, Brother Randall, sister Carolyn, grandchildren Joe & Mandy, as well as many beloved cousins and extended family, and preceded in her passing by her parents, Cliff and Mary, and her brother Fred. Hazel’s loving family will continue to honor her legacy by living life to the fullest and cherishing the moments, big and small.

Hazel's memory will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Her life was not just about the years lived, but about the love shared and the memories she made. Hazel Behrendt, a remarkable woman, will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. She would not want us to be sad, but to remember her light & love always. Rest in peace Hazel, we love you.
