Ernestine's obituary
Ernestine Hattie Mae Williams (nee Martin), a humble and gracious soul, entered into eternal rest on January 11, 2024, in East Chicago, Indiana, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. Born on August 10, 1937, in Hobson City, Alabama, she lived a life filled with love, compassion, and a deep reverence for all of creation.
Ernestine's journey on this Earth was blessed with the gift of motherhood, as she nurtured and guided five children: Frank Williams, Wallace (Sara) Williams, Rosa (Greg) Smith, and L. "DeAun" Williams. Her heart overflowed with joy as she witnessed the growth and blossoming of her three special grandchildren: Derrick Williams, Alisha (Darren) Williams, and Danny Williams. Through them, her legacy will continue to shine brightly. Additionally, Ernestine's spirit will live on through the lives of her nine great-grandchildren, as well as her cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, and a multitude of loved ones who were touched by her presence.
In the spirit of profound gratitude and respect, a closed memorial service will be held at the residence at 2p on Friday January 19th, 2024, exclusively for the intimate circle of family members. This sacred gathering will honor her wishes to provide solace, and an opportunity to honor Ernestine's remarkable life, filled with acts of kindness and profound love for her fellow beings.
Ernestine wishes to spend eternity among the seas, so her ashes will be spread Saturday January 20th, 2024 at Miller Beach located in Gary, IN from 5p to 6p for friends and family. A ballon release will be conducted too (please wear her favorite color: blue).
As we bid farewell to Ernestine Williams, let us reflect on her unwavering faith and the humility with which she approached life. May her gentle spirit find eternal peace, and may her loved ones be comforted by the cherished memories they hold dear.
