Hattie's obituary
Hattie Marie Smith, 71, was born January 22, 1948 to Wilbert and Edna Brown, in Leavenworth, KS. She quietly departed this life on December 19, 2019, surrounded by loved ones at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Hattie was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church in Platte City and was known for her quiet strength and unwavering faith. She worked in child care for over 32 years. She helped raise several generations of children at Willow Woods - there aren’t many families around here that can say Hattie did not touch their hearts and lives in some way. She was a loving, giving and caring person. If you knew Hattie, then you would for sure remember her patented million dollar smile and laugh. The holiday dinners were always something special and oh, don’t worry about bringing anything - she had it covered. She always put others before herself and was the ultimate caregiver.
She is survived by her daughters, Charlotte and Heather Smith and grandchildren James (Taylor) Smith, William Smith, Ethan Smith, Tiler Brooks, Skiler Brooks, Destinee Smith, Makayla Craig, Kaitlynn Craig, Skyi Smith; sisters Annie Carrell and Mary Brown; brothers Bill Brown and Charles Brown many nieces, nephews, a host of family and friends and several honorary children and grandchildren.
Hattie was preceded in death by her parents Wilbert and Edna Brown, sisters Margaret May and Rosie Stegall; brothers Sonny Brown, Richard Brown, and Phil Brown; her children's father James (Dr. Butch) Smith and sons James Smith and Willie Smith.
