Harvey's obituary
Harvey R. Ochs of Port Charlotte, F.L., passed away on Feb.1, 2024, at HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital, Port Charlotte, F.L., after complications from COVID-19. He was 87 years old. His ashes will be interred along with those of his beloved wife, Therma Jane Ochs (deceased Dec. 26, 2013), at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota, F.L. The internment will be private.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Harvey resided in Port Washington, N.Y., before moving to Chatham, N.J. for 38 years. He then moved to Port Charlotte, F.L. in 2014.
Harvey worked as Manager of Quality Control for 40 years at Dean Foods (F.K.A., Tuscan Dairies) and as a crossing guard in Chatham, N.J. He also worked as a volunteer at Douglas Jacobson Veterans Nursing Home in Port Charlotte, F.L. Harvey attended New Rochelle High School and received an associate degree in Applied Science from the State University of New York Agricultural and Technical Institute at Canton. Harvey served in the U.S. Army as a Personnel Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1960.
Harvey is survived by his devoted children, Sheryl Ambrose and her husband Terence of Port Charlotte, F.L., and Patrick Ochs and his wife Gangadaye of Bradley Beach, N.J, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Chelsea Jacobs and her husband Drew, James and Christian Ambrose, and Sierra Ochs, and great grandchildren Dylan and Connor Jacobs. He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Christopher Ochs of Riverside, C.A., Lynne Gilbert of Woodville, N.H., Maureen Guido of Bluffton, S.C., and Trisha Ochs of Holland, M.A.
