Harry's obituary
Harry Howard Haak, 68 of Lake Alfred FL passed away at home on January 16, 2022. Harry was born in Madison, Indiana on August 8, 1953. His family moved to Lake Afred when he was 12 years old.
Harry was a graduate of Winter Haven High School Class of 1971. He then went on to Polk Community College where he took Police Standards to become a Police Officer. He began his career at Lake Alfred Police Department in 1973. He worked his way up to being Detective Sergant of Lake Alfred Police Department Then Eagle Lake Police Department where he later retired from.
He was also a volunteer firefighter for Lake Alfred Fire Department. He also during his spare time was a instructor at Polk Community College. In earlier years he was also employed by the Polk County Sheriffs Office and was also an emt for Polk County EMS. While he was with the Eagle Lake Police Department worked with the Emergency Operations Center. Where he worked hand in hand with other departments and counties. He later went on to be a private investigator and process server for the Clerk of Courts for the 10th Judicial Circuit serving Polk, Hardee and Highlands counties.
He enjoyed being a firearms instructor for Polk Community College. He also was a part time instructor for Florida Game and Fish teaching hunter safety courses.. He was an avid hunter and planned all year for the next years deer season. He always knew every one no matter where you were in the area. If you ever had the pleasure to meet him he had a prescense that would not soon be forgotten. He always left a positive impact on those he met.
Harry is preceded in death by both of his parents Charles and Ethel (mason) Haak of Lake Alfred also by his two brothers George Haak of Lake Alfred and Charles Haak of Lexington Kentucky. Also by one sister Joanne Robbins also of Lake Alfred. Also by one niece Meredith Haak of Kentucky.
Harry is survived by his daughter Kirsten Haak Eldridge of Lake Alfred, also 4 grandchildren, Brilee Haak of Lake Alfred and Kinsley, Kaden and Eli Eldridge of Lakeland. He is also survived one sister Dorothy"Dottie" Rewis of Winter Haven. Two neices Penny Lundquist (Tim) of Winter Haven Florida Jolie Anderson of Lake Alfred. Also by nephews Christopher Haak of Lake Placid , Florida, Johnny Haak of Lake Alfred and Ashley Haak of New York and James " Jimbo" Johnson of Georgia.
Per his request he is being cremated. There will be a
Celebration of Life on February 12, 2022 11 am at First Baptist Church of Lake Alfred, 290 Pierce Street Lake Alfred.
