Harrison (TruthMaster)Lewis Jr. , Age 60, passed away on December 16, 2017 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He attended St. Joseph Catholic School, Meridian High School and Tuskegee Institute. While attending Tuskegee Institute , Harrison met and married Cecilia Tillman of Tuscaloosa, Ala. Their union produced a son, Harrison Pacheco Lewis III, and a daughter Maria Anne Lewis. Harrison is preceded in death by his father, Harrison (Wolf) Lewis Sr.; wife, Cecilia Lewis; sister, Mary Ann(Alfonso) Kelley; and a brother, Willmore Johnson. Harrison is survived by his mother, Helen W. Lewis; Harrison siblings: Catherine (Larry) Wydermyer, Vivian(Alfred) Webster, Joyce(Clifton) Garrison, Helen Marie Lewis, Audray Lashelle Lewis , a brother; Eric Lovell(Gaye) Lewis , his soulmate, Aprille Jackson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Harrison Lewis Jr. was well known as TruthMaster, Harrison, Harry, Homeboy and Oil Can. He was christened and baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he served as an altar boy and a member of the Holy Childhood Association. Harrison continued to regularly attend Mass and remained very involved in regular devotion and prayer services. Most people will remember Harrison playing Little League Baseball for Magnolia Park throughout his childhood and into his adult life, receiving a baseball scholarship to Tuskegee Institute.He was known for pitching his fastball and his spitball. Harrison has a saying that he would end his conversation with: “Keep it in the short grass.” His siblings knew that it was another way of Harrison honoring his father. During high school, Harrison played basketball for the Meridian High School Wildcats and contributed to leading them to many victories. Among Harrison’s many accomplishments, he was a strong advocate on behalf of political, social justice and health education, influencing a welcoming attitude of public servants towards ALL people; preservation of St. Luke Masonic Cemetery. He was an entrepreneur for more than 30 years as a conservator/guardian caring for others. Harrison ran a respectful race as a candidate for Mayor of Meridian in 2004. Harrison Lewis was owners and publisher of a weekly tabloid newsletter, “The TruthMaster”. He consistently challenge local politicians and policies that governed Meridian in his newsletter, which was distributed throughout Lauderdale County. The TruthMaster was the voice of the silent. Most people would comment, “TruthMaster will say what I want to say, but I am too afraid to say.” Harrison Lewis Jr. was host of the weekly radio broadcast “ TruthMaster Talk Show” , addressing concerns and issues that affect the city and community daily well-being on a local and state level. Harrison Lewis Jr. was the little people Giant who will be truly missed.
