Hal's obituary

Harold Norman Ostrander II (Hal), 65, of Louisville, KY, passed away on June 19th, 2021 after a three-year battle with cancer.
Hal was born on July 13, 1955 to Harold and Virginia Ostrander in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from Skyline High School in 1973, he went on to study psychology and religion at Dallas Baptist College. Later on, Hal attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and received a Ph.D. in Philosophy.
Hal went on to become a college professor in the areas of theology, apologetics, hermeneutics, logic, Old and New Testament studies. He taught at many schools throughout his career including, Dallas Baptist University, Boyce College, Brewton-Parker College, Wayland Baptist University and Simmons College.
While attending Dallas Baptist College, he met Carla, and they wed in 1978, going on to have four children, Alison, Mark, Andrea and Sara.
Hal was well loved and served as a mentor for many of his students over the years. His other passions included: creating puns, the Beatle’s (Well any and all music from the 60’s and 70’s!), sweet doggies, sci-fi novels, riding unicycles, playing the piano, the Dallas Cowboys, peach cobbler, writing, and leading fellow believers on mission trips across the globe!
Hal was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Carla; his four children, Alison, Mark (Melissa), Andrea and Sara (Nick) and five grandchildren, Chloe, William, Jackson, Aiden and Max.
