Harold James White, age 78, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 15, 1946, Harold was a proud Rhode Islander who dedicated his life to his community and family.
Harold served as a devoted teacher for over three decades in the Providence school system, inspiring countless young minds with his passion for learning and storytelling. He was known for his warmth, patience, and the ability to make every student feel valued.
In addition to his career, Harold was a lifelong fisherman, often spending weekends on the shores of Narragansett Bay, teaching his beloved grandchild, Deven White, the art of casting a line and sharing tales of the one that got away. His love for the ocean was only matched by his affection for his family and friends.
Harold is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret White, their children, Lisa and Michael, and cherished grandchild, Deven White. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and endless memories that will be treasured by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Harold’s life at a memorial service on January 15, 2025, at 2 PM at the Providence Community Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Rhode Island Chapter of the American Heart Association in Harold’s memory.
