Hannah's obituary
“Let your light shine before others…” (Matthew 5:16)
Hannah Rose Moody was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, while hiking near the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona, just a week before her 32nd birthday. She’s now happily at peace in the true home that she sought throughout her life.
Hannah was born in Livermore, CA to John and Terri Moody and welcomed by her two big brothers, Joel and Ethan. After graduating from Granada High School in 2011, she attended Concordia University-Irvine and Chapman University, where she earned her BA in Kinesiology. After college, Hannah trained as a body builder and won a number of competitions while also working as a personal trainer, both in the gym and online. Hannah was fierce and loved to push herself to extremes both physically and mentally, always pouring herself entirely into her goals and into her friends. She was a coach, a mentor, an inspiration, an amazing listener, a fighter, a hustler, a worshipper, a dedicated worker, an always-there-for-you friend, with a dazzling smile and infectious laugh. Her adventurous and open spirit led her to live in many places in her nomadic, post-college years: L.A., San Diego, Austin TX, Tempe AZ, and Charleston SC. She also loved to travel and explored more countries in her short time on earth than many do in a lifetime, including Peru, Ireland, Costa Rica, Australia, Bali, and Vietnam. And she was always down for a trip to Disneyland! As she wandered both physically and spiritually, she found her faith and began sharing her story of redemption with everyone she encountered. Missing the Arizona mountains, she finally landed in Scottsdale, where she was thriving as a restaurant server and online influencer, sharing her love of God, fitness, hiking, nature and insights from her life journey with her nearly 50K Instagram followers on @itshanrose.
She cherished the beauty of creation on her frequent hikes in the mountains or along the ocean—always seeking out a sunrise or a sunset. Her delight in the beauty and warmth of God manifested itself in the love she poured out on all who knew her, and even influenced countless people who didn’t know her personally, but who followed her online.
Hannah is survived by her parents, John and Terri, Livermore, CA; her brothers Joel (Kate) Moody, Osceola, IN, and Ethan (Sierrah) Moody, Bothell, WA; her niece Elizabeth, and nephews Josiah, James and Emmaus; her grandparents Fred Moody (Turlock, CA) and Owen and Shirley Halleen (Sioux Falls, SD); and a whole bunch of aunts, uncles and cousins spread around the US. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Phyllis Moody.
A memorial service for Hannah will be held on June 17, 2025 at 1 pm, at Cedar Grove Community Church, Livermore, CA. In honor of Hannah, donations may be made to International Justice Mission (www.ijm.org) or to Hope Women’s Center (https://hopewomenscenter.org/… Each of these organizations resonates deeply with Hannah’s story, uplifting women in ways that free and empower them to honor themselves, their bodies and their Creator. You can also pay for someone’s coffee, or just hug a dog in her honor, both of which would make Hannah smile!
